Get Away

  • Information overload.
  • Lots of people. Everywhere.
  • Noise. Always.

Life in the modern world isn’t for the faint of heart. But I suppose it wasn’t that different for Jesus as he was often surrounded by the crowds in his ministry and lots of people who wanted something from him. What’s a leader to do?

Get away.

That’s what Jesus did. The scriptures say he wandered off and withdrew, often. (Luke 5:16)

If Jesus did it, then I perhaps we ought to do it too.

He didn’t go far. He didn’t go for long periods of time. (Well, except for that one time he was 40 days in the wilderness.) He got away and spent time with God. Usually alone. (Well, except for the Father.)

Can we do that?

Yes. We can. But do we? Will we?

Let’s pray that we might follow Jesus to stepping away from the busyness of life and into the loving, quiet embrace of God.

We’ll be looking for YOU tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 am as we gather to worship, pray, thank and praise our God so that we might be ready to go and join Jesus in his mercy to change me, we and the world.

Grace be with you,
