Fresh Life

Dear Ordinary People,

Sunday is Pentecost. On Pentecost we celebrate God coming into ordinary everyday life through the Holy Spirit.  God is now breathing fresh life into all things, including our vocations.

We really don’t need much to be equipped to fulfill our vocation (to witness to the faith.) Jesus sent his followers out with nothing except instructions. As Barbara Brown Taylor says:

“Vocation is simply what you do, when you know who you are and who you are working for, when you are sent out to proclaim the kingdom and to act it out with no money, no shoes, not even a walking stick. Because when it comes down to being a provider of God’s love, there is really only one provider, who sends us out with nothing at all and with everything we need; healing, forgiveness, restoration, resurrection. Those are the only things we really have to share with the world, which is just as well, since they are the only things the world really needs.”    ~Barbara Brown Taylor

Come Holy Spirit that we might once more, in this ordinary time, bask in your extraordinary ways.

For further reflections see Acts 1:6-14, and John 15:26-27.

Prayers: For God’s presence at the Extreme Community Makeover (ECM) this Saturday, for  graduates and their families, for Israel and the Middle East.

See the Gods Grace Community Church (GGCC) website  for full details on what God is up to among us.

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
