Forgive Now

Dear Lenten Journey People,

Tonight we have our first soup supper (630-7pm) at Great Beginnings restaurant https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=great+beginnings+cafe. At 7pm we will have midweek Lenten worship. The scripture text for the gatherings over the next five weeks will be the Lord’s Prayer. One portion of the prayer we will be exploring is the verse “..forgive us as we forgive others ..” Does forgiveness come easily for you?

Kathleen Norris tells of a Benedictine nun who is keeping vigil at her dying mother's bedside. Seeking to comfort her mother, she says, “In heaven , everyone who we love is there.”
“No,” her mother responds, “In heaven I will love everyone who’s there.”

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”Mohandas Gandhi

Jesus says the “Kingdom of God is at hand.” Therefore let us not wait for heaven to be strong and love everyone. Let us embrace the power of forgiveness now.

See Luke 11:1-4, and Matthew 6:7-14 for further reflection.

Still in one peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
