Happy New Year! It’s that time of year when we’re looking back, looking forward and often looking inward. Last Sunday we talked about setting intentions because it’s not about doing, it’s about being. Being like Jesus.

One of the things that Jesus did and taught was to look out and really see things. That’s a little different from the new year reflection of looking at ourselves. It’s a matter, perhaps, of focus. What are we focusing on? How to fix our own problems and issues? (Not necessarily a bad thing.) But perhaps we might actually get there by changing our focus. Looking out to see how our intentions might make shine light in world that seems to be dark.

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” Matt 5:14-16

If you aren’t sure what changing your focus outward rather than inward looks like, then you’ll want to be sure to join us tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 am as we welcome special guest, Eric Swanson. Eric is the author of books, “The Externally Focused Life” and “The Externall Focused Church.” He’s a dynamic speaker that you’ll enjoy.

May we follow Jesus’ mercy into this new year to change me, we and the world by placing our focus with Jesus.

Grace be with you,

I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!
