Dear Unfinished,

Thomas Troeger says that when someone visited the studio of Henry Moore, the famous modern English sculptor, the visitor asked Moore, “Is it finished?” Moore replied, “None of our work is finished until it is seen and responded to.” (“What Shall I Preach on Sunday?” in the Christian Century, March, 180 ,p.5.)

Are you finished? I know that I am not. Last week seemed to be one where I was caught going many different directions. When I do that, I am often not focused on what I should be. Last Sunday in worship I failed to recognize Jessica Thompson at the 9am worship for her service to the GGCC youth and families this summer. Jess in her ever gracious way along with her family refocused me real quick on what matters, the GRACE OF GOD. The Thompsons were not upset at all. Thank you Lord for your mercy which flows out onto my broken parts and through the water falls of your claimed humanity.

We thank Jessica for her service. She made a difference in the lives of many this summer. It is my prayer that in some way GGCC and the ministry she encountered also blessed her as well. GGCC will be giving Jessica a new Bible, a Letter of Recommendation, a book, and a Giving Key.

Prayers this week: For Danny and Sarah (Culberson) who will be married this Friday night; the flooding in Louisiana; Jessica Thompson who is returning to the Colorado School of Mines and everyone who returns to school this Fall; all who mourn Roy Meador who was laid to rest in Estes Park; Pastor Milt Jensen who would have celebrated his 58th wedding anniversary with Beverly yesterday on August 16. For further reflection please read Mark 1:14,15.

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
