Family and Fear

The last couple weeks of June were tough ones.

My brother Kevin had open heart surgery on June 22nd. The surgeon did 6 by-passes. After the surgery was over, he told us that Kevin had a healthy heart with bad plumbing. His heart is pumping away with no place for the blood to go. Thankfully, he survived the surgery and has started a long recovery process at home. Kevin will be 57 in September; he is 6 ft tall and weighs 160 lbs- soaking wet. He is not overweight, he does not smoke, he exercises every day and follows a very strict diet. I drove over to Grand Junction to see him before his surgery, I was afraid I would not see him again. You see he had a heart attack 6 years ago. His doctors tell him he has the trifecta of bad genes. Kevin will have to fight that the rest of his life.

I am grateful for his successful surgery, I am grateful for the skill of his surgeon, I am grateful for your prayers for him and his family. Thank you for caring so much…

I do not have a Bible verse to add today. Just a closing prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for Kevin. Thank you for your healing touch that you bring to him now. Watch over him as he begins the long process of recuperation. Thank you for our church and church family who have held him close in prayer these past weeks and going forward. Let us always remember that you are with us today, tomorrow and forever. Amen
