Experience God

Revelation 19:1-10

Revelation 19:1-3 “After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,2 for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.” And again they shouted: “Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.”

The book of Revelation has always intrigued me. I have friends who explain to me that it is about the end times and that there are messages that I can infer to understand what is happening and will happen… I have friends who say the book was written in the first century and most of the events have already taken place.

In the past I have argued over what I feel is the correct truth of Revelation. In fact, friends have pulled versus out of the bible and told me where I have fallen short, where their spouse isn’t correct in their behavior, where their children have strayed from the Word. In the past…

What I have learned is there are lots of ways to interpret the bible and sometimes I find myself interpreting the bible to benefit me… to forward my thoughts, my beliefs. Sometimes I find myself looking in the bible to prove my point, to pump myself up, to tear another down.

We have only 4 more days left until the new year. We are in the last few days of this year! The book of Revelations is the last book in the bible. Is this just a coincidence?

There are 783,137 words in the King James version of the bible and 31,102 verses, the shortest of which is John 11:35 ”Jesus Wept” and the longest is in the book of Esther and is 78 words long.

At some point we can find whatever words we want in the bible to tell us whatever we want to hear. But, at some point we need to stop and ask ourselves why are we reading the bible? Are we trying to find something to prove what we already know… or are we trying to find GOD?

If we are trying to find GOD then we have to get ourselves out of the way. We need to let go and let GOD.

If you are looking for GOD, then put down your bible!

Hug your parents even if they are pissing you off, leave your home and say hi to your neighbor even if they won’t answer the door, tell your spouse and loved ones you love her or him even though they are yelling at you or you are mad at them.

GOD stories are in the bible, but if you want the WORDs made real then you need to get out into the world and see how wonderful, awesome, amazing our GOD is… You’ll see and experience pain, you’ll see and experience hope, you’ll see and experience fear, you’ll see and experience love. You’ll see and experience GOD.

God created and is in you, GOD created and is in your neighbor, GOD created and is in every child, woman, and man on this earth, GOD created everything and is in everything.

If you are looking for GOD, then open your eyes, open your hands, open your heart and see that you are a wonderful loving precious child of GOD. AMEN!
