Everyone Can Be

Dear Great Wonderful Successful People,

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stands out as a hero who made a difference in my life, your life, and the world.

If at all possible, be part of the Marade next Monday. For details see the church website. http://ggcc.publishpath.com/Home/p/289824/Default.aspx The Rev. Leon Kelly has asked us for several years to walk on the perimeter of the dignitaries (Mayor, US Senators, Governor, Congressman.) It is obviously an honor to be in the presence of such people, however the greatest thrill is when we reach Civic Center Park and look back up Broadway and see the thousands of people who walk in this Marade. The Denver Marade is one of the largest events of its kind in the United States. We do it in honor of a truly wonderful, successful, and great man- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Here is a quote from Dr. King on greatness and service:

“ Jesus gave us a new norm of greatness.
If you want to be important, wonderful.
If you want to be recognized, wonderful.
If you want to be great, wonderful.
But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be a servant."

That is your new definition of greatness. And the thing that I like about it, by giving that definition of greatness, it means that everybody can be great. Because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s theory of relativity to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermo dynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. And you can be a servant.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On Sunday we will lift up the life that God gave to Marin Luther King Jr., and the service he did on this earth. We have a panel of leaders who have faced issues of racism who are prepared to discuss the topic with us for our sermon this week on January 18th. John 1:29,” Come and see…”

May your life be one of wonder, greatness, and success as you unlock the secret to serve.

Pastor David J. Jensen
