Dutiful

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

On Monday night Vikki Luce and some other brothers and sisters in Christ gathered to hear author Anne Lamott speak about her new book,“Small Victories: Spotting Improbable Moments of Grace.” I have had the opportunity to hear her speak on two other occasions, have appreciated her writing over the years and it's always a blessing to hear her.

When I was in college , I went one night to hear a famous writer talk about her work. “How do you get in the mood to write?” one of the students asked her. “In the mood?” she asked. “Well, I have breakfast, then I sit down at my typewriter, and then I write. I’m a writer. That’s what I do. I write."

I realized that I was in the presence of someone who was dutiful to her vocation.

On the eve of Thanksgiving, is it our duty to say thank you for all that we have? In fulfilling your duty you might just find another blessing from the Lord to be thankful for.

Read Luke 17:11-19.

May God bless you this day and always.
