Dear Brothers and Sisters,

“Religion is for people who are afraid of going to hell; spirituality is for those who have been there.”  - Ross V, member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

From the cross (Matthew 27:46, Mark 15:34) Jesus recites the words of Psalm 22:1: “God, God…my God! Why did you dump me miles from nowhere?”

When have you felt dumped by God “miles from nowhere”?

The feeling of God's absence is something none of us are immune from. Ironically, the fact that Christ experienced being forsaken by God on the cross validates our experiences of questioning the Lord's presence. As Jesus hung upon the cross, he used Psalm 22 as his prayer. The words of this Psalm were used as Christ was completing the work of salvation history.

May you have the courage of Christ to trust you can be honest with your God in all of life's circumstances. Take faith that God's listening ear is near, even when you feel God is farthest away.

Read Psalm 22.

I hope to see all of you at Lenten worship tonight at Great Beginnings Restaurant. Meal at 6pm and worship at 630pm.

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
