Dry Bones?

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

“Mortal can these bones live? I answered oh Lord God , you know. …Prophecy to these bones, and say to them . O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord." (Ezekiel 37:3,4) This famous vision of the Valley of the Dry Bones is given to the prophet Ezekiel in Babylonia shortly after the fall of Jerusalem to Babylonia in 587 B.C. The prophet is seized by,” the hand of the Lord” (see Ezekiel 1:3 and 8:1), that is, he is sent into an ecstatic state in which he is given to see new reality.

Are you ready for a new reality? Do your bones feel dry? From the oil in the golf, to wars, famine, and struggle to find one's way through the recession, bones are dry. The hope of the world came through one solitary individual- Jesus the Christ. As Jesus touches one life at a time the world's bones are moistened and hope is replenished through the community known as the Body of Christ. May your heart be reached this day by Jesus so that your dry bones know God's love.

M. Scott Peck once said, “The whole course of human history may depend on a change of heart in one solitary and even humble individual—for it is in one solitary mind and soul of the individual that the battle between good and evil is waged and ultimately won or lost.”

May your dry bones hear the word of the Lord this day.

See you on Sunday.

Still in one peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
