Do We Really See?

If we are to love our neighbors, before doing anything else we must see our neighbors. With our imagination as well as our eyes, that is to say like artists, we must see not just their faces but the life behind and within their faces. Here it is love that is the frame we see them in. - Frederick Buechner From Whistling in the Dark

Do we really see the people around us?  Especially the people who are different from us. In John 4, Jesus really sees a woman she figured he wouldn’t or couldn’t be able to see.  And because of it, her life was transformed.

May we be open to the people around us and see the child of God in each of them.  For that is God’s plan to share the Good News of love, mercy and grace through Jesus.  When we invite someone to hear a word about Jesus; or when we invite another to see how Jesus is blessing the world through our service; or when our invitation to listen to a person’ story happens, God can do amazing things!

See you tomorrow, Sunday, Oct 21 as we hear a story about global friendships in Kenya through the gift of serving together with the lens of John 4 at 9 and 10:30.  Next Sunday, October 28 is Friendship Sunday!  An opportunity to invite a friend to a special worship service at 11 am and an afternoon concert at 2:30 pm with Peter Mayer.

God bless you,
Vikki
