Do Not Oppress

What scripture has been on your heart this week? What Bible verse(s) has been tugging at you? It’s good to have a verse hanging around you (figuratively speaking, of course.)

The verse that’s been with me this week, and actually for three months as Jude Del Hierro has lifted it up at the Confluence Incarnational Leadership Initiative events in Sept, Oct and Nov, is from the prophet Zechariah. Zechariah is calling the people (and us) to God-centered community.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render true judgements, show kindness and mercy to one another; do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another. Zec 7:9-10

We’ve heard at those Confluence luncheons about how people in our community are serving the orphan, the widow and the alien. It’s been moving to hear what God is doing among and around us. It’s been convicting to consider how we are to show kindness and mercy to one another and how we often oppress our neighbors.

Tomorrow we are excited to hear from Brad Corrigan and Daisy Wiberg about what Love, Light and Melody is doing to show kindness and mercy in Nicaragua. We’ll be looking for you at 9:00 or 10:30 am. Malcom David Mitchell will be baptized at 10:30. It’s going to be a great morning and it won’t be the same without you.

Grace be with you,

**If you're interested in attending the Incarnational Leadership Initiative gatherings the 2nd or 3rd Wednesdays (includes lunch!) from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm let me know.
