Divide or Love

Acts 11:1-3 “The apostles and the believers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. So, when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him and said, “You went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them.”

So, are you pro-circumcision or anti-circumcision?

It is amazing to me how many times I get caught up trying to separate, partition, divide… and it feels good because then I can choose:

  • Choose to ignore,
  • Choose to throw away,
  • Choose to let go,
  • Or choose to love.

Acts 11 7-9 “Then I heard a voice telling me, ‘Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.’ I replied, ‘Surely not, Lord! Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’The voice spoke from heaven a second time, do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

Wow, I am blown away by Paul’s statement “Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.”

I’m on a journey and looking back I can see unclean things have entered and exited my mouth. Let’s just say I won’t be casting the first stone.

Today we, you and I, are going to be challenged. Some of us harder than others. Truth is you will walk by people you have no idea what their challenges are… and some are huge!

So, we can get into their stories and we can separate, partition, and divide.

Or… we can love, foolishly love without cause.

On my journey I have divided and I have loved foolishly.

  • Every time I divided, I’ve ended up falling short, hurting myself or someone else.
  • Every time I have loved foolishly… well truthfully, I’ve been hurt loving foolishly and I’ve been fulfilled beyond my wildest dreams.

It’s hard, I know it’s hard, for if it were easy all would do it (Gandhi).

But choosing to let go and love, that’s as close as you’ll ever get to GOD on this green earth, except when you hold back and divide and pull away as that’s as close as you’ll ever get to GOD on this green earth.

Truth is, nothing can separate us from GOD! We, you and I, can choose to be separate, but nothing can separate us from GOD!
