Which way do I go? Do I choose the fastest or the slowest path? Which path has fewer obstacles and hurdles? What if the path I choose “appears” to be the fastest and easiest but there are hidden challenges I can’t see? What if I choose wrong? What if I choose correctly?

Decisions. Decisions. Decisions. We are faced with decisions and choices every day. From simple things like what to wear or have for dinner to more complex decisions like where to live, buy or rent or the age old question of “what do I want to do when I grow up?”. Decisions are just a natural part of the day and are often times made without even realizing it.

Often times we make decisions thinking “we” are in control. What I’ve discovered is that God is really the one in control and I just “think” that I am. Looking closer at the map from one of my morning commutes, I saw a circle - one GIANT loop that was full of challenges. It didn’t seem to matter which way I went, I was still going to be late. However, I was going to reach my destination regardless of which path I chose. So, I decided to let Google Maps decide which was going to be my “fastest” route.

Something else I discovered. That if we place God in the center of the loop, how can we go wrong? Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (NKJV). If I put my trust and faith in God, no matter how tough the challenge, no matter what path I choose, I can do it. God is going to be with me EVERY step of the way.

I heard on the radio recently that if something doesn’t challenge us, it can’t change us. Our path will sometimes be smooth and easy and at other times a bit rough. If we remember to stay God centered, we can accomplish anything we set out to do.

Dear God, thank you for the challenges you bring to us. Please help us to remember that if we stay focused and allow you to walk with us on our journey, all things are possible. Please help us to remember that while sometimes the path may have a twist or a turn, nothing is wasted; that each obstacle brings us not only closer to our goal, but it brings us closer to you. Thank you for the unconditional love and support you show us each and every day. May we be blessed to go out and be a blessing to others. In your name we pray. Amen.
