Death to Life

Death, darkness, doubts, fear, loneliness, frustration, sadness, hatred, wondering, numbness, tears. And then we are confronted with love, family, friends, memories, more tears, joy, peace, faith, hope, light, healing, and new connections and new beginnings.

So many emotions when someone dies. No wonder it can be overwhelming. Our lives are forever changed, sometimes in an instant and sometimes over a long hard road of illness or aging.

God our Father is with us in these times of grief, providing a peace and knowing that through our faith, Christ and his ultimate sacrifice and resurrection have brought the promise of eternal life and love for us and our loved ones. We receive comfort that while our loved ones will be missed, we know through faith, they have received the gift of heaven forever and ever.

In times of death, we are often reconnected to family and friends we haven’t seen or heard from for a long time. We are covered in love and the sharing of memories. We find hope that our faith will carry us through the tough times ahead. We are healed through our faith and by the many friends and family that encircle us in love. We know through hope, there will be a new tomorrow. God’s grace will bring a new and sunny day, just for us, to pull us through the darkness. His love is greater and stronger beyond all comprehension.

And now these three remain: Faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)

We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 1:3 (NIV)

God our Father, we pray for those who are mourning and we ask for your comfort and peace that passes all understanding. We are grateful for those that surround us in their love and we pray for brighter days ahead. Amen
