Dear Creatures of the Creator,

Former Archbishop of the Church of England Rowan Williams has a  wonderful aphorism: “ If we aren’t self-created, we are answerable to a truth we don’t produce.” (Quoted by Rupert Shortt,” Rowan's Rule: The Biography of the Archbishop of Canterbury).

To say that we are creatures and not the Creator is to say a great deal about our true answerable to the Creator. As creatures, we do not create God out of our own imaginations, desires, or fantasies—God creates us.

To say with the psalmist, ”It is He that hath made us and not we ourselves,” is to speak of ourselves as eternally answerable to a truth we don’t produce. The truth is that the Creator God produces us.

See Genesis Chapters 1 and 2 for further reflection.  We share a God of the galaxies who loves us each enough to know us by name.

Let us all pray for: Elected leaders.  World peace.  The homeless and the hungry. Those who mourn and those in need of healing, such as the Walters family in the aftermath of a tragic car accident.

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
