Dear Visionaries,

“You have heard that it was said ,’An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist an evil doer…..” Matthew 5:38

“You have heard that it was said , ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…” Matthew 5:43

Jesus is calling for some bold and courageous paradigm shifts. In my experience, churches always hope that it is possible to be faithful to the mandates of Jesus without the pain of disruptions and dislocations. We pastors tend to be reconcilers and peacemakers who are uncomfortable with disruptions.

This day let’s remember that Jesus Christ was unable to work our redemption without the disruption of the status quo that eventually led to his crucifixion in avian attempt to silence him.

On Sunday we will come together for our annual congregational gathering. It is a moment to celebrate the stability, comfort, grace and mercy Jesus offers us through God’s Grace Community Church (GGCC) . It is also a time to give thanks for a sacred community named GGCC where we can be challenged to give up retaliation and hatred, to become vulnerable to the ways of Jesus' mercy, so that God’s Grace might abound!

Still in one peace,
Pastor David J. Jensen
