Commercials - Hate Them or Love Them?

This time of year everyone is sick of political tv commercials, especially those that smear their opponents. Rather than run on important issues, the races many times only focus on attacks of their opponents.

And just two months later, people look forward to watching commercials, particularly the Super Bowl commercials.

Which commercials are you more likely to act upon and remember? The hateful commercials or the ones that put a smile on your face?

Our actions and words make that same impact. What do we win by cutting someone down when we have so much to gain by building someone up? We can make a difference in someone’s life, even by the slightest of actions. The same also goes with how we choose to share our beliefs. Thoughtful, positive comments that are shared by the other person’s interests will form a foundation for further understanding and growth.

Proverbs 12: 14-19 (NIV) is reflective of some of the media broadcasts today. Perhaps some of the media need to reflect on these verses.

Dear God, we see and hear both positive and negative comments in media advertisements. Help us to reflect a positive, caring image in our own personal statements. Hatefulness serves no one justly. Let our message bear words and actions pleasing to you. Amen
