Dear Disciples,

Robert Jenson rather famously contended that, ”God is whoever raised Jesus from the dead, having before raised Israel from Egypt.” In the resurrection, God self-identifies as the God who loves to liberate the slaves and to raise the crucified. (Robert Jenson“Systematic Theology,” Oxford University Press, 1997, P.63)

The resurrection is more than an historical event, or just something we wait to experience in eternity. The resurrection occurs each day. The promise of Easter is ours every time we bump into the feeling of wanting to give up. The truth of Jesus conquering death says that we will never experience a moment during our lifetime of being hopelessly stuck in the way things are. Disciples of Christ live in the blessing that heaven and earth collide right now to make all things new and to fill your life with fresh wonder, meaning, and purpose.

May the power that raised Jesus from the dead be with you today!

For further reflection see Matthew Chapter 28.

Still in one peace,
Pastor David J. Jensen
