Cleansing Power

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

“Create in me a clean heart oh God…” (Psalm 51 vs 10). These are the words attributed to King David after he had an inappropriate sexual encounter with the woman, Bathsheba.

Forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself. It is not something you do for someone else. It is not complicated . It is simple. Simply identify the situation to be forgiven and ask yourself, “Am I willing to waste my energy further on this matter?” If the answer is “no”, then that’s it! All is forgiven.

Forgiveness is an act of the spiritual imagination. It challenges you to imagine a better future, one that is based on the blessed possibility that your hurt will not be the final word on the matter. It challenges you to give up your destructive thoughts about the situation and to believe in the possibility of a better future. It builds confidence that you can survive the pain and grow from it.

I hope to see each of you this night at Ash Wednesday worship (6:30-8:30 pm come and go as you desire at RCHS, Room 300) as we gather round the Savior who forgives and claims a hopeful and eternal future for each of us.

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J.Jensen

Compassion and forgiveness are aolmst divine qualities. I ask it for myself, yet there is someone out there that I cannot forgive right now. Maybe once I can forgive, I will be forgiven.People that do not experience failure have never tried anything outside their comfort zone. To me it can mean evidence of a search for knowledge in trying new things.-Patrick
