Choosing Life

“To be grateful is to recognize the Love of God in everything He has given us – and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him. Gratitude takes nothing for granted, is never unresponsive, is constantly awakening to new wonder and to praise of the goodness of God. For the grateful person knows that God is good, not by hearsay, but by experience. And that is what makes all the difference.”  Thomas Merton

This is one of my favorite quotes of Thomas Merton’s. I tend to look at that which is good in my life. It’s easy to give praise and thankfulness to God when I believe all is going well. The truth is, all is not well all of the time. We see and hear it daily in the news. I pray for family and friends who are on difficult journeys, but know life is messy, and it’s how we choose to live what we live. The children of Haiti chose to do dance steps as they formed a bucket line to dispose of debris from the 2010 earthquake, which killed 160,000. My niece Lisa, she waits, with her two adopted children in Uganda for the American consulate to welcome her back into the United States. She’s been in Uganda since October, five months and has anxiety about the recent Ugandan elections. When the small apartment she rents gets too confining she takes the kids, hops on a small motor scooter with both and they ride around Kampala to visit the friends she’s made since there. She is joyful in the company of others.

Spending time in solitude, looking inward is difficult. The season of Lent is a great reminder that I have to keep saying yes, yes and yes to God. The good news of the gospel gives us a radical new freedom. When confronted with change, when life gets messy, I can choose how I react, I can choose to get out of the mess. The saints in my life have modeled well how to live the life they are in. Our difficulties can touch others in ways we will never understand. We can create spaces that give us and others a glimpse of God’s goodness and love.

Yes God, I know you love me. Lord I love you too, because you’re beautiful and you are great. I love you too. I love your beauty in the sunrise over the ocean. Your calmness as it sets in the evening. The fullness in my life is about the moments I share with you. Amen

With havin so much content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright violation? My website
has a lot of completely unique content I've either
written myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my authorization. Do you know any solutions to help prevent
content from being stolen? I'd really appreciate it.
