Changing Course

John 7:1 “After this, Jesus went…”

Have you ever asked yourself, “Now What?” I am trying to relax more and reduce my hectic schedule, because I have the feeling that my life is so busy. I wonder if I am in control of my life, my schedule or if my schedule is in control of me.

When I get like this, I find myself shutting out those around me. I don’t find myself doing less work, but doing less volunteering, not going out of my way to visit friends or neighbors. It actually makes my life feel worse.

In John 7:1-24 the holidays are coming (Feast of Tabernacles). Jesus has just lost a lot of his followers because they had issues with his message and word on the street was people were “gunning for Jesus.”

Jesus’ friends tell him he’s got to go so more people can see his miracles, he has got to keep up his busy schedule!

BUT… Jesus says it isn’t time yet.

It’s ok to stop and evaluate your priorities.

It’s ok to stop and reorder your “things to do list.”

It’s ok to stop to evaluate your relationships and let some go so others can flourish.

BUT…

After this, you must go… you’re going to have to move… you’re going to have to change.

John 7:14-18 “Not until halfway through the Feast did Jesus go up to the temple courts and begin to teach. The Jews were amazed and asked, “How did this man get such great learning without having studied?” Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from him who sent me. If anyone chooses to do GOD’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from GOD or whether I speak on my own. He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.””

Truth is…

GOD loves You! Truly, Deeply!

And GOD’s not looking to shut down relationships. GOD’s looking to build loving, fruitful, passionate relationships. And to do this we, you and I, must move, we must change. We need to help the widow and the widower, we need to feed the hungry (with our hands), we need to clothe those out in the cold.

DO NOT BE AFRAID!

When you go, GOD is with you!   Where you go, GOD is there!

GOD Loves YOU!   Know you are loved!

Love, Peace, Presence,
