Carried Away

Dear Carried Away,

“The proof that God raised Jesus from the dead isn’t the empty tomb, it’s not the rolled-away stone; it’s a carried away church.” Clarence Jordan, founder of Koinonia Community, from whence came Habitat for Humanity.

Our congregation gets “carried away” for Christ with regularity. We are all blessed to be a part of this community. May God continue the good work that the Holy Spirit has inspired among us!

Last Sunday the congregation affirmed paying the rent for our mission partner the Boys and Girls Club of Booneville, Mississippi. I often hear, “we have such a small ministry and yet we are blessed that we can do so much.” I am never quite sure how to respond to that? We have 75-100 families who make contributions to God’s Grace Community Church (GGCC.) That is really a strong coalition for Christ! We are larger than most churches in the USA.

Together we are :                                                                                                                    -Sponsoring a Missionary in Nicaragua at $680 each month, in partnership with Love Light and Melody.                                                                                                                              -Paying the rent $300 each month for the Booneville Boys & Girls club.                                -Sending $650 each month to Confluence Ministries. Those resources help to teach English as a second language (ESL) and help people get Graduate Equivalent Degrees (GED).                                                                                                                                       -Also able to partner with Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives, The Gathering Place and Paris Elementary School.

Check out the Scorecard  to see an “accurate estimate” of the impact Christ is having upon the world through your action at GGCC. Thank you goes out to Claudia Larson for her efforts to lead us and offer record of what God is up to among us.

Offerings to the Ready to Bless fund (RTB) provide the financial resources to make such “Community Building Ministry” happen. May each of us continue to be in prayer regarding the new level of generosity God is calling us into.

Matthew 28 provides  further reflection. Ponder how Jesus commissions some to go forth and minister to many. Few are elected by God to include all.

Prayers: For the year end party at Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives tomorrow night June 1. See the website for details. May we always be “carried away “ in Christ Jesus!

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
