Buddy Poppy

It's Memorial Day weekend. Long weekend. Start of summer. BBQ's. Picnics. Concerts. The Bolder Boulder.

None of those things have much to do with "Memorial Day". Memorial Day is a day set aside to honor, celebrate and remember those who gave their lives for our freedom and for the freedoms of many others.

Tomorrow, it's also the church calendar celebration of Pentecost. The birthday of the church. The gift of the Holy Spirit. (See Acts 2

It is fitting to celebrate Pentecost and Memorial Day together. The Spirit enables us to do more than we humanly can do. The color of the day is red. Memorial Day remembers those who did more than we can humanly imagine. Red poppies are a symbol of the day.

We'll be looking for you tomorrow at 9 or 10:30 as we gather to celebrate the gifts of the Spirit and to remember those who gave their lives in service for us. Everyone will get a red "Buddy Poppy".

Grace and peace,
