Book of Life

I recently read somewhere that one of the modern status symbols is to have your own Wikipedia page online.  Evidently there are roughly 225,000 individuals that now have there very own Wikipedia page.  It’s a pretty exclusive club given that there are about 7 billion people now living in the world and a lot of historical people are also part of the 225,000.   I don’t have a Wikipedia page and doubt I’ll ever know anyone that has a Wikipedia page.

However, I would much rather rejoice that my name is written in heaven in the Book of Life rather than on some online website.  There are many things that happen at the moment you believe in Christ. You are born again. You receive the Holy Spirit. You are placed into the Body of Christ. You are part of a new creation. You are eternally secure. You are guaranteed a future in God's kingdom. You are  guaranteed you  will never be eternally condemned.  Your sins are forgiven and your name is recorded in the Book of Life.

Indeed, the disciples were overjoyed when they returned from a ministry trip, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name" (Luke 10:17). Yet Jesus commanded them to rejoice in something much more important: "Do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven".

If you believe in Jesus and the gospel, then you know your name is written in heaven in the Book of Life. We should always try to remember to be grateful and thank God for that.  After all, the greatest thing that can ever happen to us  is to believe in Christ and have your name inscribed in the Book of Life!
