Blessed in the Mourning

Dear Mourners,
“Jesus went up the mountain; and after he sat down , his disciples came to him , and he began to teach…” Matthew 5:1,2….
Randy Rigby became the worship leader of God’s Grace community Church (GGCC) back in November of 2004. Randy was great on his guitar in front of crowd. However, Randy may have been at his best “sitting down” with a few and talking about his God. Following the model of our Lord, “…Jesus sat down and began to teach…”
“Blessed are those who mourn…” Matthew 5:4. I  mourn my friend, mentor, and colleague Randy Rigby. Ed Edwards called me last Thursday as I was beginning to tutor children at Open Door. I fell to my knees when he told me Randy had died.  Brother Rigby was my mystic pal, he lead me into the mystery of our God who “…blesses even those who mourn…” Randy Rigby impacted my career as much or more than any other human being has. He showed up in my life back in November of 2004 when the ministry models I had trusted and believed in had exploded, and he became part of God's massive resurrection plan to offer fresh ways of engaging the gospel message with the world. So though I mourn, I will be blessed from here to eternity by the presence of Randy Rigby in my life.
On Sunday we will spend some time in worship lifting up the life and ministry of Randy Rigby among us. People will be invited to offer a short eulogy if they choose to do so.
Pray for those who plan to gather in California this Saturday for a memorial celebration of Randy’s Life. Noon to 5pm. 6065 Los Ranchos Rd San Luis Obispo CA 93401

At this time, I am making tentative plans to represent GGCC at the memorial in California and be back for the GGCC memorial time on Sunday.
On Sunday, we will use Matthew 5:1-12 as our core text of the day.  Matthew is filled with odd reversals and the unexpected ways our Lord. It is a text consistent with the way Randy Rigby lived and was a blessing from our Savior.
Prayers: Pastor Milt Jensen who will be having surgery in the coming weeks to replace his left hip, for Debbi Meador, Grace Benedict and all in need of healing. Kate Rigby and all who mourn. Our newly elected government officials.
As many of you know when Randy joined the staff of GGCC he had been playing with the Righteous Brothers . Since I received the news of Randy’s death I have probably played this song 30 times: Righteous Brothers-Rock and Roll Heaven.

"There is a rock n roll heaven and you know they just got a hell of man, man, man!”  Pardon my language, but Randy would have liked that add on. Blessed be his memory among us.
See you Sunday.
Still in One Peace,
Pastor David J. Jensen

My site looks weird when browsing from my iphone4.
I'm trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to resolve this problem.

If you have any suggestions, please share. Many thanks!
