Blessed Assurance

I’ve been dealing with contractors and the insurance company since the hail storm in September. We just got our new roof and our house painted this past week. Thank goodness for insurance and the relief it brings knowing that the money we invested to insure our property allows us to get damaged things fixed with just a small deductible.

A lot of time and energy was expended in the process to get the repairs done. It got me thinking about insurance and how I should be focusing my time and attention instead on assurance. The assurance I have in Christ. There’s nothing to worry about. Nothing to coordinate. Simple. Peace. Comfort. Confident. Prayers heard. Prayers answered. Forgiveness. Love.

And when I find myself beginning to worry and letting fear creep in, I know that I am not going in the right direction – I’m thinking about insurance and if I’m covered and did I pay the invoice so it doesn’t get canceled. What I’m really needing is re-assurance. And I get that by walking with Him and being in His word. And then I’m the one that gets the repairs and a fresh coat of new paint!

And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.   Isaiah 32:17

Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine,

Nancy Nickoley
