Beyond the Comfort Zone

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” ―Henry Miller

Why go to Nicaragua? Good question. GGCC has a group traveling home from there today. Why did they go? I’ll let Andrea, Conor, Glennda, Jude, Terry and Pastor Dave answer that question themselves (tomorrow at 9:00 and 10:30!)

But, I’ll say for myself going to places like Nicaragua or on short term mission trips that I hear God calling me to is a matter of jumping over my fears, getting out of my way and opening my heart to take a risk. It’s a little scary – okay, it’s pretty scary for me to take that step. Because I’ve learned it’s not about what I’m going to do or how I’m going to serve; it’s really about how I’m going to be changed.

We can go beyond our comfort zone because we trust that: “God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.” Psalm 54:4 and “This is our God, our God forever and ever. He will be our guide forever.” Psalm 48:14 and “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power.” Ephesians 6:10 and “Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 and “Let God change the way you think.” Romans 12:2 CEV.

I’m excited to hear how the group has been changed after their trip to Nica. We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 a.m.

Grace be with you,
Vikki

One new perception,
one fresh thought,
one act of surrender,
one change of heart,
one leap of faith,
can change your life forever.
