Being Loved by God

“He surrounded them and brought them up, guarding them as those he loved very much. He was like an eagle building its nest that flutters over its young.” Deuteronomy 32:11

We try to be present in our relationships. We know their importance and how we are called to be a people in deep relationship with one another. Even our best and most satisfying human relationships can’t fill the hollow space in our human hearts for intimacy with our God. I can forget I need quiet time silence, to allow myself to experience God’s love and peace first hand. I need guidance to walk with and welcome those put in my path, to recognize my sense of belonging in God’s creation and how I might be an instrument for change and peace.

In this season of Lent, that still small voice inside is reminding me what my heart really craves, to share with God his intimate love firsthand. “I have called you by name, from the very beginning. You are mine and I am yours.” Somehow our names were carved into the palms of God’s hands by the nails of the cross. On that painful, unimaginable day we were written into His life forever. He never intended to forget us and now he never, ever will. I need to remember and know firsthand just how much God loves me.

Loving Jesus, Holy Spirit,  Thank you, for making a way for me to come into my Father’s presence. My prayer this Lent is that I might be more deliberate with the hours in my day. Your rhythm and love flows around and through all life and all, of your creation. Teach me to be loving in all the ordinary events of my life. I need your guidance and continuing help to walk me through this day and all days ahead. Lord, you are our hope and peace for this world. Amen
