Be That Servant

Dear Freedom Fighters,

Next Monday is ML King Jr. Day.

You are invited to join other God’s Grace Community Church participants at 7am at the Waffle House off County Line and Broadway for a 7am study on ML King Jr.

After the study we  also welcome you to come along to City Park for the Marade. For more details go to the GGCC website.

Martin Luther King Jr. said, ”Jesus gave us a new form of greatness. If you want to be important, wonderful. If you want to be recognized, wonderful. If you want to be great, wonderful. But, recognize that he (or she) whose greatest among you shall be your servant."

That is your new definition of greatness. And the thing that I like about it, by giving that definition of greatness, it means that everybody can be great. Because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s theory of relativity to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermos-dynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. And you can be that servant!

“And you can be that servant.” King was oh so right! Starting now, be that servant!

Prayers: That we might each do more to stop racism and hatred. That  ML King Jr’s legacy might inspire action and fruit this day in your life!

For further reflection seePsalm 139:1-6, 12-18

John 1:43-46    Acts 2:17-21

In the song “Pride,"  U2 reminds us we don’t need everybody, we need one person. One person makes the difference. Be that person

“In the name of love” be the one.  (Hope to see you Sunday- when I hope we sing that song!)

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
