Avoiding the Safe Path

“Following Jesus will mean surrendering the power that masquerades as security in order to love the neighbor and welcome the stranger. It will mean avoiding the safe path in order to pursue the good.” - Scott Bader-Saye

Following Jesus is never simple. It’s an intentional way of life that invites us to not take the easy way out.

So, why do we / would we follow Jesus?

I think because we want more to life than the easy way out. We want purpose and meaning. We want to sow seeds of love. We were created to be co-creators with our God, so it’s in our very being to be light and bring goodness. To be filled with the gifts of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

But, we have to determine that this is what we want to do. We make choices and build habits that lead us along the path. It’s not easy, but with Jesus’ help it’s not always hard either. We don’t go alone and we remember that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 10:00 as we gather to be the people who are intentional about following Jesus. It won’t be the same without you.

Grace be with you,
