Authentic Creativity

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Every year at Christmas, the rector of a large downtown church received a bottle of his favorite peach brandy from a parishioner. This had gone on for years. One year, the rector’s generous friend asked him to publically thank him from the pulpit the next Sunday for the peach brandy. The rector reluctantly agreed.

On Sunday, just about to give his sermon, the rector saw his friend sitting in the front pew, waiting. What was he going to say? Admit he liked to drink?  “Before we begin,” he said, “I have an announcement.  I would very much like to thank my friend, Joe, fo his kind gift of peaches—and the spirit in which they were given!”  (the origins of the story are unknown)

Is there someone in your world whom Christ is nudging you to appreciate more, but you are not sure how to do it? I invite you to prayerfully reflect this Thanksgiving season on how God might inspire you to be grateful with authentic creativity!

Prayers: For all who mourn Alice Nickoley, and Amy Jewell, cousin of Vikki Luce. For gratitude in all circumstances. The opportunity to provide resources for Thanksgiving at Confluence Ministries on Nov 23rd.  And for Nancy Maakestad,  a Jensen family friend who has been placed in hospice care.
