Are you ready?

Dear Prepared,

It was a privilege for Amy and I to represent the community of God’s Grace Community Church (GGCC) at the funeral of Mildred “Big Mama” Jumper.  Last Saturday, First Baptist Church in Booneville, Mississippi was filled to capacity at 400 plus people. Choirs sang ,  preachers preached and all God's people gave praise and prayed!

Our good friend Pastor Gabe Jolly III used 2 Timothy 4:6-8 for his sermon text:

“As for me , I am already being poured out as a libation, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord , the righteous judge, will give me on that day , and not only me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

Pastor Jolly asked us ”If we were ready?”  He said he knew that Big Mama was ready. She had finished her race and she had ran it well.  She was human and flawed just like the rest of us. What Big Mama knew well was the one whose grace and mercy is the vaccine to mend our broken wounds and carry us into righteousness upon our earthly departure.  Her mission was to fight hard with joy in her heart, that we might each embrace the relationship she trusted at her very core.

Prayers: For all who mourn. For our country, the global community, the sick, the lonely and homeless. For the GGCC  ministry team headed back to Booneville this weekend. (This trip was scheduled months ago, before Big Mama died.) For the February 23rd GGCC Advance and your participation in it.

*I hope each of you plan to attend the Advance on February 23rd led by Pastor Eric Swanson* For more information see the GGCC website

There is a hope that strengthens us for the journey. Trust in that and “Hold On”!
