Are you a realist?

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

“Anyone who does not believe in miracles is not a realist.” ---David Ben –Gurion

Are you a realist? Do you believe in miracles? It strikes me this year as I read the resurrection story once again, that the disciples rush into Jesus' tomb and they see death. The disciples look in and,”…they see linen grave clothes lying there...."(John 20:5) All they see is what they expected to see, images of death.

On the other hand as Mary bent over to look into the tomb,”…she saw two Angels in white , sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying ..."(John 20:11,12)

I have heard it said,”We cannot see what we are not looking for,” and I believe it to be true. I think Jesus sends Angels to surround us every day with new life and hope. Do we wish to see the Angels who usher in resurrection truth and new life ? Or do we wish to keep our eyes set on the gloom of sin and the broken truths of this world?

The blessing of Easter is that it is a day that rolls around each year. Easter is a time that calls out to claim us with fresh vision and mercy. Jesus has chosen us to be there this day and everyday at the tomb (tomb being whatever takes life away from you on a daily basis), seeing the Angels of good news. “Jesus is risen! Jesus is risen indeed!”

May you be there this Easter and everyday seeing the Angels! Let us all be realists who seek resurrection miracles.

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
