Angels On Earth

If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings that we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:6-7)

Are there friends of yours that you always naturally go to in times of trials, stress, and sorrow, the friends that are the types of people who always know just the right words to say, and to comfort you? I am always thankful for friends of mine like these. It hasn’t been till recently where I have started to really wonder where all of this “wisdom” from 20 year-olds has come, but I have started to realize it is because God has but them through many more trials and periods of sorrow than I. These friends have suffered more than most people, and I like to think of them as Guardian Angels on Earth. Think of some of those people that I am talking about, what would your life be like without them? I know I surely wouldn’t be who I am today without them, and I think that is what an angel is. Whether they are on earth or not. Someone who pushes you, and keeps you in check, one that is always watching your back and at your side. So as we transition from a period of thanks, to a time of blessings, I feel eternally thankful and blessed for the little angels in my life. Below I found a little prayer about angels that I think really expresses my jumbled thoughts about friends and suffering.

Father, its not always clear to me why suffering comes. But I do know that whenever I suffer, you are close in hand. I can see you in the kindness you deliver to me through angels. Some angels are strangers, some are friends, and some are unseen, but all remind me that you see me, that you care for me, andthat you are with me.
