What are you longing for?

This time of year we sing, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”. (click here to listen) because it’s time to acknowledge our longing, our hopes, our dreams, our descent into darkness and our desire for the light.

Who is the light?

Jesus is the light.

And he’s coming. Yes, Christmas is coming. But, Christmas is so much more than ribbons, packages, boxes or bags (thank you Grinch). Christmas is the light.

And getting ready for the light, waiting for the light and hoping for the light is Advent. Advent is the season in the church year before Christmas. We might have a lot to do this time of year, but stopping to celebrate Advent will enrich our Christmas. It might be just listening to an Advent playlist or reading a weekly devotion. It might be lighting candles. It might be reading a daily devotion. Or it might be just taking a few moments of silence here and there. Whatever it is, it will touch your heart with the light of Christ. We all need that.

Below is a list of Advent resources.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 for the First Sunday of Advent. We gather to praise and thank God and hear a word from the Word. We’ll be looking for you.

Advent blessings,
