A Child's Trust

“Behold I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him and he with me.” Revelation 3:20

What follows is a wonderful word picture written by a father to his daughter. Such trust, if we could only trust this way.

For My Daughter

“She’s so sure I’ll always be here she’s willing to leave me a little at a time,
tentative raids into the world,
returning as we walk, with branch, feather, flower, bottle cap or unnamable rubber gasket,
fragments of the shared planet, holding them up for comment,
then throwing them back…
She keeps bringing me things as if I’m an alter.
Each we sniff, turn, taste, name.
Each a small portal through which to see it all.” …………………..Anonymous

God does offer us this kind of relationship, this type of daily journey with Him. He is always with us as we go out into the world. Many times during the day we can come back to God with our challenges and joys asking Him to help us name and understand them all.

Abba God,
We thank you for your Spirit. Guard our hearts and minds so we never close them to your presence. We ask to see this world with your eyes. We are blessed as your children, by your guidance and grace.
