A Big Deal!

Acts 9:26-43

Acts 9:28-31 So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord. He talked and debated with the Hellenistic Jews, but they tried to kill him. When the believers learned of this, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus. Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.

Chapter 9 of Acts is about Saul’s (Paul’s) conversion from persecutor to preacher and Peter raising Tabitha from the dead. The bible is full of people who have done amazing things in the name of GOD.

I sometimes feel like I am truly falling short. My mind tells me I could do more, I should do more, I’m not doing enough! And then I read the bible and I see where, YES there are a lot of people mentioned by name, but there are a lot of people not mentioned by name and they are doing important things.

In Acts 9, Saul was preaching in Damascus and he had upset, yes pissed off the Jews living there so much that they conspired to kill him and in verse 25 “… his followers took him by night and lowered him in a basket through an opening in a wall.” So Saul went to Jerusalem and “preached fearlessly” there, but the Grecian Jews tried to kill him and in verse 30 “when the brothers learned of this, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.”

Sometimes I feel like I don’t do enough.

GOD knew my name before I was born, before I was conceived, before even the world was formed GOD knew me and called me by my name!

Know that you are a big deal! You are someone in GOD’s book, you are in bold, CAPITALIZED, and highlighted for you are a wonderful, loving, precious child of GOD!

There is nothing you can do to make GOD love you anymore and there is nothing you can do to make GOD love you any less!

Precious Father, Loving God, Holy Spirit, you taught us that “whatever we do for one of the least of these brothers of yours, we did for you.” We pray that you keep us focused on you, on your light, on your love. Help us to know that every child, woman, and man is a wonderful, loving, precious child of GOD! AMEN!
